Bona Fide Bargain #4

Hello, sweethearts! I ran across this adorable little top the other day on and knew I had to share it with you… after I purchased one for my very own. At only $18.99, I couldn’t pass it up!

How incredibly perfect is this for an easy pin-up look? Add some winged eyeliner, red lips, skinny jeans, snag yourself some tickets to a Reverend Horton Heat show, and you are good to go for a fab night out on the town!

I’m going to share one more vintage-inspired find from Charlotte Russe with you too… I literally squealed when I saw it:

$37 for both pieces makes this a pretty affordable swimsuit… and the black and white is a nice alternative to a yellow polka dot bikini!

Happy shopping!

Hey ladies! Here’s another one of my Etsy treasures… kind of makes you crave a Dreamsicle, right? This lovely 1970’s sherbet-colored dress is from Miss Megan at Bad Cholla Vintage. Please please do yourself a favor and check out all her lovely pieces! Her prices range from pretty inexpensive to out-of-my-price-range for her most gorgeous items – but I’ve gotten several wonderful bargains (this dress was $42 including shipping) and I love to visit her store often.

I do plan on making a few alterations to this dress… it is in wonderful condition but I can’t pull off head-to-toe orange. I’ll be shortening the sleeves and taking the hem up from a maxi length to knee length. I plan on adding strappy gold heels and a vintage gold clutch along with my new trademark: false lashes and some shimmery eye makeup. Instant summer outfit!

Happy shopping!

Hey Doll… I wanted to share another BFB with you! I picked up these little beauties from recently and I can’t say enough great things about them. 5 1/4″ heel, nice high platform, and a dreamy color make these the perfect pair for a wedding or garden party (but I would recommend staying away from any grass unless you’re trying to aerate the lawn).

And the best part? They’re a measly $28.10. Yes, you read that correctly. This stunning pair of heels is less than $30. BUT… if you use the promo code SAVINGS20 you can save an additional 20%! You’re welcome.

Happy shopping!

All That Glitters

Betty + Alexander = True Love. Le sigh. I have no words…

Hello ladies! Just wanted to share another one of my Etsy treasures with you… I snagged this little number from Miss Amber at Peg & Amber:

It’s adorable the way it is, but I’m going to remove all the little purple bows – I like little purple bows, but I think this dress would be much more wearable and less costume-y without them. I have plans for this dress… stay posted to be the first to be in on the secret!

Happy shopping!

Long overdue.

I do believe that it is high time for me to make my apologies to you, my lovely readers… A new post was long overdue! Hopefully this one will help make amends.

I have been very, very busy lately. With what, you ask? Well, let’s see… I recently made a trip to Florida, narrowly missing a violent tornado, am diligently working at a demanding job that has recently become more demanding/exciting, and I’m sure there are more excuses I could make for myself as well, but memory fails.

My mind is constantly swirling with a million ideas… some good, some bad, some very odd… but here’s one of my good ones:

I made these with peacock feather spears or swords or whatever the kids are calling them these days. Super simple assembly:

Step one. Clip off ends of feather – you can make them longer or shorter depending on how dramatic you’d like to be.
Step two. Peel off a few bits of feather from the clipped end.
Step three. Trim the feather to your liking.
Step four. Attempt to locate a lovely metallic green nailpolish to coat the whitish edge of said feather.
Step five. Polish feather (and let dry. Duh.)
Step six. Insert stripped end of feather into crimp bead.
Step seven. Smash crimp bead, encasing end of feather safely inside.
Step eight. Attach loop of crimp bead to loop of earring hook.
Step nine. Plan an evening out on the town to debut earrings.

Or… leave me a comment and let me know if you’d be interested in skipping all those pesky steps and purchasing a similar pair from me on Etsy!

Happy crafting!

I know, I know… I’ve been slacking with my Bona Fide Bargains. But this is sort of along those lines. Da da da DA! Presenting: Betty + Etsy! I thought I’d start sharing all my nifty Etsy purchases instead of just showing you fancy things to daydream about.

So, without further adieu, may I present my latest find. I snagged this little baby from Mr. Idaho’s Vintage. I’ve purchased several dresses from Miss Renee, and I’ve been super impressed not only with her amazing, affordable selection, but also with her super fast shipping. Without fail, every time I check out the shop, I run across something that I just have to have!

So check her out on Etsy. I’m sure that you, too, will find something you can’t live without. Be sure to tell her Betty sent you!
