It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll, But I Like It.

Hello, my darlings! I am so very proud (and even more excited) to show you a preview of my new jewelry collection:

My collection is inspired by music, as you can see… Soon I’ll post some little tidbits about each of my pieces and tell you where, when, and what was my inspiration for each. I’ll also continue to post more pictures of my progress, my materials, and new pieces as they’re completed. The collection will officially debut at Grove Fest STL on October 1st and will be available on Etsy soon after. I am so thrilled to be a part of the Grove Fest Fashion Corner – I have many secrets to share with you over the next few weeks about all the exciting things happening at this amazing street festival!

Happy shopping!

Hey you! I want you to see the beeyouteeful vintage dress I found at Bad Cholla Vintage. Thanks to the lovely Miss Megan are in order for another perfect Etsy transaction!

The teal shade of the dress is even more beautiful in person… and I was thrilled to find that it fits like it was made just for me. It is a maxi dress, so I will most likely be shortening it at least a few inches – one can only wear so much polyester in the summer months before one does not smell as fresh as a lady should. I can’t wait to pair it with a peacock feather hairpiece and some disco-worthy heels!

Hey ladies! Here’s another one of my Etsy treasures… kind of makes you crave a Dreamsicle, right? This lovely 1970’s sherbet-colored dress is from Miss Megan at Bad Cholla Vintage. Please please do yourself a favor and check out all her lovely pieces! Her prices range from pretty inexpensive to out-of-my-price-range for her most gorgeous items – but I’ve gotten several wonderful bargains (this dress was $42 including shipping) and I love to visit her store often.

I do plan on making a few alterations to this dress… it is in wonderful condition but I can’t pull off head-to-toe orange. I’ll be shortening the sleeves and taking the hem up from a maxi length to knee length. I plan on adding strappy gold heels and a vintage gold clutch along with my new trademark: false lashes and some shimmery eye makeup. Instant summer outfit!

Hello ladies! Just wanted to share another one of my Etsy treasures with you… I snagged this little number from Miss Amber at Peg & Amber:

It’s adorable the way it is, but I’m going to remove all the little purple bows – I like little purple bows, but I think this dress would be much more wearable and less costume-y without them. I have plans for this dress… stay posted to be the first to be in on the secret!

I know, I know… I’ve been slacking with my Bona Fide Bargains. But this is sort of along those lines. Da da da DA! Presenting: Betty + Etsy! I thought I’d start sharing all my nifty Etsy purchases instead of just showing you fancy things to daydream about.

So, without further adieu, may I present my latest find. I snagged this little baby from Mr. Idaho’s Vintage. I’ve purchased several dresses from Miss Renee, and I’ve been super impressed not only with her amazing, affordable selection, but also with her super fast shipping. Without fail, every time I check out the shop, I run across something that I just have to have!

So check her out on Etsy. I’m sure that you, too, will find something you can’t live without. Be sure to tell her Betty sent you!

Happy shopping!

A new leaf.

Hello gorgeous! It’s me, Betty. I have to make my apologies as I haven’t posted anything in ages! I did want to update you on my latest project, though.

Recently I have been trolling Etsy… too often, probably… for vintage dress patterns. I’ve managed to collect quite a few lovely patterns, and I’ve started a dress that I’m very excited about. Here’s what the finished product will (hopefully) look like when I’m finished:

I think this little number will be a great addition to my wardrobe. It looks like it will be super comfortable and it has pockets. Pockets! Just think of all the curious and wonderful things I can hide in those pockets…

So far I’m very proud of my work. I have a nasty habit of rushing through sewing projects and then wearing the item once or twice before I discard it out of frustration with the finished item. I’m trying very hard to turn over a new leaf by taking my time and following the pattern closely so that I’m able to have some pride when I debut the dress. I’ll be posting a few pictures of my progress soon, and I hope to be able to show you the finished product within the next week.

Happy sewing!

Drool worthy…

Betty here. I’m a little short on time these days but I just had to share a couple of Etsy sellers with you all!

Please do yourselves a favor and check out The Pink Purse. Here’s a little sample of Miss Michelle’s adorably sexy creations:

Another one of my new favorites is Vintage Opulence. Miss Sarah creates absolute divinity with vintage lingerie. And she seems like a pretty nifty girl, too.
