It’s Only Rock ‘n Roll, But I Like It.

Hello, my darlings! I am so very proud (and even more excited) to show you a preview of my new jewelry collection:

My collection is inspired by music, as you can see… Soon I’ll post some little tidbits about each of my pieces and tell you where, when, and what was my inspiration for each. I’ll also continue to post more pictures of my progress, my materials, and new pieces as they’re completed. The collection will officially debut at Grove Fest STL on October 1st and will be available on Etsy soon after. I am so thrilled to be a part of the Grove Fest Fashion Corner – I have many secrets to share with you over the next few weeks about all the exciting things happening at this amazing street festival!

Bona Fide Bargain #5

It’s only rock ‘n roll… but I like it. Thank you to Miss Cathy for these totally awesome guitar earrings!!! Please do yourself a big favor and check out her shop. Her pieces are super cute and the prices? Amazing. These were only $5 plus shipping.

I just love the clear acrylic – they’ll go with everything in my closet. Now all I have to do is check my local concert schedule and I am good to go!

Long overdue.

I do believe that it is high time for me to make my apologies to you, my lovely readers… A new post was long overdue! Hopefully this one will help make amends.

I have been very, very busy lately. With what, you ask? Well, let’s see… I recently made a trip to Florida, narrowly missing a violent tornado, am diligently working at a demanding job that has recently become more demanding/exciting, and I’m sure there are more excuses I could make for myself as well, but memory fails.

My mind is constantly swirling with a million ideas… some good, some bad, some very odd… but here’s one of my good ones:

I made these with peacock feather spears or swords or whatever the kids are calling them these days. Super simple assembly:

Step one. Clip off ends of feather – you can make them longer or shorter depending on how dramatic you’d like to be.
Step two. Peel off a few bits of feather from the clipped end.
Step three. Trim the feather to your liking.
Step four. Attempt to locate a lovely metallic green nailpolish to coat the whitish edge of said feather.
Step five. Polish feather (and let dry. Duh.)
Step six. Insert stripped end of feather into crimp bead.
Step seven. Smash crimp bead, encasing end of feather safely inside.
Step eight. Attach loop of crimp bead to loop of earring hook.
Step nine. Plan an evening out on the town to debut earrings.

Or… leave me a comment and let me know if you’d be interested in skipping all those pesky steps and purchasing a similar pair from me on Etsy!

Happy crafting!

Summer Earrings

As you all know, I am obsessed with Etsy. I can’t say enough good things about the uber-talented, super creative, generous artists who sell on the site. Sometimes I shop with the intent of purchasing a little treasure (currently I’m amassing a collection of vintage dress patterns), but more often than not, I check out the new listings just for some inspiration. Sometimes I convince myself that I can create a reasonable facsimile of the work I come across… but when I found these earrings, not only did I know that I will most likely never have the patience to sit and learn to weave anything of this caliber, but I also knew that I had to have them. These are just perfect for summer – for wild hair, for walks on the beach or in the desert, for out-of-doors frolicking of any kind. And the best part? They have been designed and hand crafted by a registered Native American. Please check out Miss Laura’s gorgeous work. Her earring designs are truly breathtaking!
